How to Use

Simply enter in the search your search requirements as you're used to on Pony Island. Now though, the search text area and dropdown has been replaced with a series of text areas in the 'Search Criteria' area. Enter as many search criteria in those text areas as you wish. Blank text areas will not be included in your search. Like Pony Island, use a percent sign (%) to indicate any number of random characters, and use the underscore (_) to indicate a single character that could be anything. Lastly, please note that if you try to search by owner and suboff at the same time, suboff will be ignored.

Features/Limitations

Advanced Search has largely the same features as Pony Island's search, except that you can search for multiple items in the search box at the same time! However, a few limiting changes were made that are not included in Pony Island's search due to technical limitations. The first of these changes is that searching by stable has been removed. Searching by stable is slow, and was regularly failing to work. Secondly, if you choose to order by sprice or bfee, one of the corresponding buy, bid, and fee checkboxes must be checked. Additionally, if you try to use a search criteria that returns a large number of results, for example, ponies with body color 0_0_0_, there may be matches to your search that are left out of the search results.

In addition to being able to search for multiple items at once, you can also search by suboff! This will search through all the subs of a user, and apply the other filters to the search.

You can also choose to search for any number of breeds or genes at a time. Simply check the breeds you wish to search for in the breed pulldown, and the genes you wish to search for in the various genes pulldowns. Checking no breeds is the same as checking all of them.

You can also choose to order your search by intelligence, charisma, strength, or agility.

Optimizing your search

Certain searches require Advanced Search to download more than others. I've tried to optimize Advanced Search to download as little as possible, but even still, it's possible you'll end up downloading a lot of pages, and the more pages you download, the more likely your search will have errors. So, for the best user experience, try to limit your searches to using some combination of the criteria Name, Nick, and Owner whenever possible. I also recommend adding as many filters as you can to your searches, though if you choose to search for more than one of the genes in each category, it will add to your download. Ordering by one of the stats will also increase the number of pages Advanced Search has to download.
